99th Annual Skaro Pilgrimage

In the year 1918, early Polish settlers built a shrine in the memory of Our Lady of Lourdes in Alberta. To this day the shrine attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over the province to the annual Skaro Pilgrimage, held every year on August 14-15, marking the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The 2017 pilgrimage begins on Tuesday, August 14, with Sacrament of Reconciliation from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.Rosary is prayed at 7 p.m., followed by Vespers (in Polish) and 8 p.m. Mass celebrated by Archbishop Smith. A candlelight procession follows.

A Healing Mass is celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15.

Skaro Shrine is 80 km northeast of Edmonton, at the intersection of Highway 45 and Secondary 831.
