Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Children’s Liturgy of the Word on the first and third Sunday at the 10:30 am Mass from October – June.

Your children are invited to attend this Liturgy at the 10:30 am Masses on the first and third Sunday of the month. Children go to the lower hall after the opening prayer, and return to the Church during the Offertory Collection for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. They hear and discuss child-friendly versions of the Mass readings, pray, and may do a craft too. Younger children should be able to sit and listen to the Gospel, and respond to the Leaders. If your child is very active, please accompany them.

If your child is between the ages of 3 to 10, and has not yet received his or her First Communion, we are eager to welcome them. It is always good if three year olds are accompanied by an older sibling. Visiting children are always welcome!

Parish Committees

Parish Pastoral Council

The PPC listens attentively to the parish community, discerning its needs, hearing of its dreams and sharing its vision. Meeting every second month with the pastor, the PPC then seeks to address each of these with the resources the Lord has given us to work with. It is an indispensable part of parish life, planning, animating, co-coordinating and evaluating how the parish family is responding to the call of the Lord.

Finance Committee

Members of the Finance Committee are appointed by the Pastor to oversee the financial operations of the parish. There are five parishioners on the committee as well as the pastor and the chair of the Parish Council. The committee reviews budgets and salaries in the fall and presents a financial statement to the parish annually in January or February. The committee meets six times a year.

Maintenance Committee

The buildings of the parish date back to the 1950’s and require constant maintenance and repairs. Parishioners use their skills and experience to do simple, minor repairs of the church and rectory, and evaluate other needs that require outside contracting. Anyone having a skill or trade that they can offer would be much appreciated.

Food Bank

Our Food Depot is run by a dedicated team of volunteers that are here every Wednesday afternoon to hand out groceries to those in need. The majority of the food is delivered to us from the Main Food Depot. Food is handed out on Wednesday afternoon between 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Our clients are allowed to come to our Food Depot once every three weeks. When the clients come here they need to bring identification with their name and address (they need to have proof that they are living within our boundaries), and they also require an Alberta Health Care Card which would list all their dependents.

We are always looking for retired individuals that would be interested in helping on Wednesday, either in the morning or in the afternoon. Please call the parish office for more information.
