The Window

The WINDOW is the weekly emailed or texted bulletin of the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton. As a Catholic here, you are part of the Archdiocese, and deserve to know what’s happening. This is how you find out. The WINDOW is the single source of news from the Archdiocese – a window into our Catholic community. Our newsletter combines the best of the old Quid Novum and Grandin Media newsletters.

Subscribers to the WINDOW newsletter will continue to receive their requested Catholic news, now under the combined WINDOW name. Why ‘WINDOW’? It’s easy to understand: It embodies transparency. You can see in, and see out. It illustrates faith. And it symbolize multi-way communication.

Upfront with the Archbishop

Upfront with the Archbishop is a podcast whose goal is to “strengthen the relationship between the hierarchy and the faithful through informal conversations about our Catholic faith.”

The latest episode is a discussion on teachings in the Catholic Church. The description states:

“Join Archbishop Smith for a discussion about how to define, dogma, doctrine and the Magisterium, about whether the Church will change some of its most-discussed moral teachings, the gift of certainty and consistency that the Catholic Church offers, and how all of these matters always come back to the person of Jesus Christ.”

Be Not Afraid

This series from the Archdiocese of Edmonton tells the vocation story of 12 religious sisters and priests that serve within our Archdiocese.

The final episode follows Fr. Kris Schmidt’s story. If you have been with the parish for a long time, you might recognize him from when he was a deacon at St. John’s! The description states:

“Father Kris Schmidt is a priest for the Archdiocese of Edmonton and he currently serves as the pastor for St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Camrose. He grew up in St. Albert, attending Holy Family Catholic Church and he entered St. Joseph’s Seminary at age 21 in 2008. He was ordained a priest in 2015. Father Kris is currently the Vocations Lead for the Archdiocese of Edmonton.”

Welcome to the 2024 Together We Serve Campaign

ONE CHURCH. ONE GIFT. Your gift to Together We Serve enables us to do so much more as One Church, than we could ever do individually. That is the POWER OF ONE!

Please give today!

Together We Serve is an annual appeal in the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton. It was launched in 2014 to simplify giving by combining recurring special collections in parishes and inviting Catholics to work together to serve those in need at home, in Canada, and abroad. Together We Serve shows both Catholics and those around us that we are all one Church, acting together to advance the Mission given to us by Jesus Christ.
