Congratulations on your decision to get married!

The institution of marriage is a beautiful vocation, the beginning of family life and a great adventure.

The Catholic Church rejoices in your decision to marry and wants to journey with you in your preparations and assist you in growing in your love for each other as well as in your relationship with Christ. Each person is called to prepare as well as possible to live our faith in our marriage and in our lives. 

Couples wishing to celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony should plan to meet with our pastor six months prior to the wedding date, to help you as you begin this process. This time is needed for interviews, marriage preparation course and other preparations to be made. 

Catholic marriage preparation is mandatory for marrying in the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton, and it is strongly recommended that the marriage course be taken at least 4-6 months before the wedding date. During the marriage preparation process, you will receive:

Catholic Engaged Encounter

Catholic Engaged Encounter has a Marriage Preparation session in the form of a retreat weekend. All weekends are held at Star of the North Retreat Centre located at 3A St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert, AB T8N 1K1.

Upcoming in-house retreat dates: May 24 – 26 and Oct 25 – 27

Includes private, individual accommodations for Friday and Saturday nights, with 3 meals on Saturday, 2 meals on Sunday and around-the-clock access to a coffee/tea/juice bar. This accounts for $500 of your registration cost. The remaining $75 of your registration covers all other costs associated with the marriage preparation course.
